Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that starting something new can come with a few questions, so here are some of the most common things people ask before getting started.

What is remedial massage and how can it help me?

Remedial massage is a hands-on treatment that focuses on areas of tension, stiffness, or discomfort in the body. It’s designed to reduce pain, improve mobility, and help you move more comfortably in your day-to-day life.

Will the treatment be too strong or painful?

No—treatment is always adapted to your comfort level. The goal is to work effectively without causing unnecessary discomfort, and we adjust pressure and techniques based on what feels right for you.

Can this help with ongoing stiffness or long-term aches?

Yes—many people come in with ongoing stiffness or persistent aches. Treatment focuses on reducing tension and improving how your body moves, which can help you feel more comfortable over time.

What happens during my first session?

We start with a conversation about what’s been going on, followed by an assessment of how your body is moving. From there, treatment is tailored to your needs, working at a pace that feels safe and comfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on what you’re experiencing and your goals. Some people feel improvement after one session, while others benefit from a short series of treatments to create longer-lasting change.

Is this suitable if I have limited mobility or other health concerns?

Yes—treatment can be adapted to suit different levels of mobility and comfort. With experience working in aged care, sessions are adjusted to ensure they are safe, supportive, and appropriate for your situation.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You’re starting to feel more stiffness or tightness, and it’s making everyday movement less comfortable

  • You want to stay active and independent, but your body isn’t moving as easily as it used to

  • You’re concerned your body might keep getting more restricted if nothing changes

Don't worry, we can help!

Hey There, I'm Alysha!

I'm a remedial massage therapist at Balance Integrative Bodywork with a strong interest in how the body moves and adapts. After six years working in aged care, I was drawn to hands-on bodywork as a way to work more closely with individuals and provide focused, supportive care.

My approach is attentive and adaptable, responding to what each body needs on the day. Sessions are guided by clear communication and assessment, allowing treatment to be tailored to areas of tension or discomfort.

Alongside my clinical work, I have an ongoing personal interest in movement and body awareness. I regularly explore strength and coordination-based movement practices, which continue to shape how I understand and work with the body.
